Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's lacrosse team hosted Southern Connecticut State University in a Northeast-10 Conference contest Wednesday evening on Motamed Field. The Panthers earned their sixth consecutive win, defeating the Owls 23-1. The victory gives Adelphi their second conference win, as the Blue and White falls to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in NE-10 play.
Less than a minute into the game, Alexa Frocarro got the Panthers on the board with a pass from
Devan Crimi. About a minute later Crimi netted her first goal, giving the Brown and Gold a 2-0 lead over the Owls. Three different Panthers took advantage of scoring oportunities, jumping out to an 8-0 lead less than ten minutes in.
At the 19:35 mark Southern Connecticut State University got on the board with a Sarah Muise goal making the score 8-1 in favor of the Brown and Gold. Jahelka scored at 15:36 to push the Panthers to a ten point lead, 11-1, keeping the clock running for the remainder of the half.
Heading into the locker room for relief from the unfortunate downpour, Crimi led all players with six goals and four assists for 10 points. Jahelka and Frocarro tacked on four and three goals, respectively. Muise was the lone scorer for the Owls as Adelphi led 17-1.
Two minutes into the second half newcomer Kate Beirer notched her 15th goal of the season, increasing the Panther lead to 18. With 8:19 left in the game
Alaina Lamont netted her first goal of the year off a pass from
Katy Richardson. Just minutes later, Lamont pushed the lead to 21, scoring past SCSU's Nora Anderson. Lamont completed her hatrick with another goal off a pass from
Danielle Montano with two minutes left in the game.
For the Owls, Nora Anderson and Vanessa Pagano combined for 12 saves in the loss.
