Alexa Froccar accounted for four of the Panther's 11 goals.
Box Score

Syracuse, N.Y. – Earlier this afternoon, the #3 women's lacrosse team took on the #7 Dolphins of Le Moyne College in a Northeast-10 showdown. After falling behind by six goals at the midway point, the Panthers tallied nine second-half goals but still came up just shy and wound up suffering their first loss of the season, 13-11. In defeat, the Panther's move to 12-1 overall while the Dolphins advance to 10-2. Both teams share a conference leading 8-1 NE-10 record.

For Adelphi, Alexa Froccao led a contingent of four players in the scoring department behind four goals; two of which came on free position shots. Freshman Rachel O'Brien was close behind with three while Melyssa Mathewson and Devan Crimi each found the back of the cage twice.

Jordann Dempsey suffered her first loss of the season as she saw 21:09 minutes of action, allowed five goals and made two saves while Taylor Hayes closed out the final 38:51, allowing eight goals and making as many saves.

As a team, the Panthers were outshot for the first time this year (30-25), but picked up more ground balls (14-13) and gained more draw controls (15-11).

For the Dolphins, Kathleen Conese led the way with four goals and one assist. Jennifer Fabian, Victoria Nies and Claire Monnat each chipped in with two goals while three other players found the back of the net once. Mlloy Marbut played all 60 minutes in cage, allowing 11 goals and mading 10 saves in the win.

O'Brien put the Brown and Gold on the board first on an unassisted score just 3:32 into the game. Le Moyne fired back with two consecutive goals just 36 seconds apart by Brenna Bauer and Kelly Condon to take the 2-1 lead. Crimi leveled the playing field with her first of two goals in the game, but it would be the only time Adelphi would find the back of the net the rest of the first 30 minutes of play.

Le Moyne capitalized on Adelphi's cold streak to rattle off six unanswered goals to close out the half; four of them coming within a 4:37 stretch.

Down 8-2 at the half, Froccaro picked up her team with two straight goals within 29 seconds of each other while Mathewson and O'Brien followed up with scoring efforts of their own, cutting the deficit to 8-6.

Froccaro, O'Brien and Le Moyne's Nies traded scores to make it a one goal game, 9-8, but four more unanswered attempts by Le Moyne left the Panthers behind by five with 6:17 remaining in the game.

Despite the efforts of Crimi, Froccaro and Mathewson in the latter stages in the contest to cut the score to 13-11, it was too little too late as the Panthers saw time wind down to zero and conclude with their first loss of the season.

The Panthers look to get back on track this Saturday, April 20 when they hit the road against the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College in another NE-10 conference contest in Colchester, VT at noon.
