Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team posted a convincing 8-1 win over Caldwell College in non-league action on Monday. The Panthers improve to 9-6 overall while the Cougars drop to 1-3 on the year.
Adelphi swept the opposition in doubles play, highlighted by an 8-0 shutout by
Chiwete Njokanma and
Bryan Kallenberg at No. 3 doubles. The Panthers then took five of six solo matches, the lone setback of which was shortened due to retirement in the first set.
Andreas Hammar blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at top-flight singles, and
Sander Brenner and
Ryan White each prevailed, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Panthers return to action at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Thursday at 3 p.m.
