Panthers open three-match non-league slate with commanding win

Andreas Hammar prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at top-flight singles to go with a No. 1 doubles victory in Adelphi's 8-1 win over Caldwell College on Monday.
Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team posted a convincing 8-1 win over Caldwell College in non-league action on Monday. The Panthers improve to 9-6 overall while the Cougars drop to 1-3 on the year.

Adelphi swept the opposition in doubles play, highlighted by an 8-0 shutout by Chiwete Njokanma and Bryan Kallenberg at No. 3 doubles. The Panthers then took five of six solo matches, the lone setback of which was shortened due to retirement in the first set. Andreas Hammar blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at top-flight singles, and Sander Brenner and Ryan White each prevailed, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

The Panthers return to action at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Thursday at 3 p.m.
