Oceanside, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team earned a 9-0 shutout victory on Friday over Daemen College, a United State Collegiate Athletics Association institution awaiting candidacy for NCAA Division II status. The Panthers improve to 3-1 with the win, while the Wildcats fall to 1-6.
Sander Brenner and
Chiwete Njokanma each blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in singles play, while the remaining four Panthers took 6-1, 6-0 decisions. Brenner paired with Bryan Kellenberg for an 8-0 victory to set the tone in doubles action, while teams of
Andreas Hammar/Njokanma and
Adrish Tewarie/Rich Ferguson won by scores of 8-2.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday at Queens College at 12 p.m.
