Oceanside, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 6-3 non-conference win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday. With their first victory under Head Coach
Michael Misiti, the Panthers improve to 3-1 overall while the Spartans drop to 1-3 on the season.
Adelphi took two out of three doubles matches and four out of six singles contests. Senior
Andreas Hammar delivered the most dominant singles performance, winning 6-0, 6-1 at top flight singles. Hammar partnered with
Alan Chocron at No. 1 doubles and earned a hard-fought 9-8 (10-7) victory.
Bryan Kallenberg and
Sander Brenner suffered a grind of a loss, 9-8 (10-2), at No. 2 doubles, and
Boris Tiberkov and
Chiwete Njokanma finished doubles play with an authoritative 8-1 win.
The men's team returns to action on March 8 at home against Daemen College.
