Chesapeake, VA- The Adelphi University women's bowling team traveled to Chesapeake, VA to compete in the Hampton Roads Invitational, hosted by Norfolk State University. After day one, the Panthers post a 9-7 overall record for the 2013-2014 season.
The Brown and gold started their day slowly dropping a 16 pin decision to Bowie State University, 896-880. Levittown alum Colleen O' Neill (207) and
Erica Schneider (192) paced the way in the losing effort.
In the second match, the Bears of Morgan State University fell by 63 pins to Adelphi, 831-768.The victory was sparked by Schneider (213) and
Holly Zink (176).
The third match of the day featured the Aggies of NC A&T, who stunned the squad with a 45 pin drubbing 889-844 despite a 193 from O'Neill and a 183 effort by freshman
Leanne Reed. The Panthers returned to form in the fourth match against the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn as Reed (199) and
Jessica Lutz (199) fired a pair of matching gems in the 96 pin win, 885-789.
To close out the day, the Panthers defeated Monmouth University by 37 pins 886-849 as Reed stayed steady (190) and Zink amped up her game (200). The Panthers stand in fifth place at the end of day one, trailing SF Brooklyn by 9 pins.
