Box Score Garden City, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut State University goalie Audrey Dolloff registered 21 saves this evening as the Adelphi University field hockey team hosted their first of three final home games. The Panthers went down in defeat as the Owls were able to overcome a 3-1 deficit, to win 4-3. The loss drops the Panthers to 7-8 overall and 2-5 in conference, while SCSU improves to 4-5 in NE-10 play.
Adelphi controlled much of the offense in the first half, scoring three in the first 35 minutes. Sophomore
Kristen Bagley kick-started the offense, scoring just three minutes into the first half. The Blue and White answered back a long 15 minutes later, as their leading scorer Sarah Cebry found the back of the cage off a pass from Zoe Fanolis.
The Brown and Gold were offered a penalty stroke opportunity in the 22
nd minute that senior
Jamie Ackerman fired by Dolloff, for her third season goal. The Panthers would strike one more time in the final three minutes of the half, as
Carly Aceves earned her second goal of the season, making the score 3-1.
The Owls found success in three of their seven attempts in the second half, which would ultimately end in a victory for Southern Connecticut. Cebry would strike again, when awarded a penalty stroke, in between two goals from Jamie Matson, her eighth and ninth of the season.
The Panthers had a 32 to 10 shot advantage over SCSU, as well as 15 to six penalty corners. Goalkeeper
Kelly Serrao registered four saves in the loss, as
Briana Rubenstein and
Jami DeGrote each chipped in a defensive save of their own.
Coach's Thoughts on the Game
"I give credit to SCSU, they were able to finish their plays, while we were not," commented Head Coach
Gloria O'Connor. "Their goalie was able to stop 21 of our shots on goal, and we were unable to make adjustments."

For their final away contest, the Panthers will travel to Colchester, VT to face Saint Michael's College on Saturday, October 26. They return for their final two home games on Tuesday, October 29 against Assumption College at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 2 against Bentley University at 1 p.m.
