Women’s Lacrosse Well Represented on All-Conference Teams

The Panthers had the most representation out of all the schools with nine awards.

Garden City, N.Y. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced the All-Conference and All-Rookie teams earlier today to reveal nine Panthers receiving honors in the form of First-Team, Second-Team and the All-Rookie Squad. Adelphi led the way with the most award winners with nine. Among those honored are First-Team honorees Erica Devito, Devan Crimi, Marissa Mills and Jacqueline Williams who is also the Defensive Player of the Year. The Second-Team includes Meg Brown and Tara Gangarossa while Lauren Janelli, Alexa Froccaro and Danielle Jaycox earned All-Rookie status.

A sophomore from Merrimackrick, N.Y., Williams was a 2010 All-Rookie selection and is this year's Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year as well as a First-Team honoree. Complimenting her four points are 23 ground balls, 37 draw controls, and 13 caused turnovers. She is part of the Panther defense that has allowed just 126 goals for a 7.87 goals against average which is third in the NE-10.
 
Devito earned First-Team honors at attack for the third consecutive year. She boasts a team leading 57 goals, (third in the NE-10) and 37 assists (fourth in the NE-10) for 94 points which is tops in the conference. Additionally, she has 12 ground balls, 39 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers.
 
Crimi joins Devito on the First-Team at attack. A 2011 All-Rookie honoree, Crimi is fourth on the team in goals with 43 and second on the team in assists with 19 for 62 points, which ranks second. In all three of those categories, she comes in the top-15 among Northeast-10 players.
 
Mills lands on the First-Team as a midfielder after being honored with Second-Team kudos the past two years. The senior from Islip, N.Y. ranked third on the team in goals with 44 and fourth on the team in points with 50. Additionally, she scooped up 25 ground balls, gained 31 draw controls and caused 10 turnovers.
 
Brown picks up her first All-Conference nod with inclusion into the Second-Team as a midfielder. The Lindenhurst native ranked fifth in both goals (35) and points (44) and has collected a team leading 45 ground balls and causing 23 turnovers while taking 29 draw controls.
 
Gangarossa was named to the Second-Team All-NE-10 as a defender. St. Anselmrting and playing in every game, the senior has compiled four points on two goals and as many assists as well as picking up 20 ground balls, six draw controls, and causing 16 turnovers. Additionally, she has helped the Panther defense hold opponents to an average of fewer than eight goals per game.
 
Jaycox is one of three Panthers to earn All-Rookie honors. At midfield, she has accumulated 26 goals and six assists for 32 points. Additionally, she has 20 ground balls, 17 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers.
 
Froccaro earns a spot on the NE-10 All-Rookie Squad after being named the NE-10 Rookie of the Week twice during the year. At midfield, she leads all Panther freshman in scoring, assists and points with 27, nine and 36 respectively.
 
Janelli caps the All-Rookie team as the third member of the women's lacrosse team to be honored. At midfield, the North Shore, N.Y. native has scored one goal and scooped up 20 ground balls, earned five draw controls and caused 13 turnovers.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, May 5 when they play the third seeded Skyhawks of Stonehill College in the semifinal round of the NE-10 Tournament. The game will be played at Le Moyne, the host site for the semifinals and finals.
