Rindge, N.H. - The Adelphi University baseball team lost a pair of Northeast-10 Confence games to Franklin Pierce University, 7-1 and 11-0, at Pappas Field on Friday. In the nightcap, Ravens pitcher Ryan Leach tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts, the seventh in program history, helping Franklin Pierce improve to 19-10-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the NE-10. The Panthers now stand at 11-13 overall and 3-8 in the league.
In game one, seven different Panthers knocked a hit, with
Vinny Gaetano,
Rich Cambria and
Lucas Romeo ripping doubles and
Justin Farnum hitting a solo home run.
Dillon McNamara was saddled with the loss, allowing 11 hits and two earned runs in six innings.
Michael Carletti threw two innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts.
The Ravens plated seven runs in the first three innings, including a five-spot in the second highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam by James Roche.
Franklin Pierce scored in all but two innings in the nightcap, which gave Leach plenty of room to assemble the no-no.
Jimmy Milani suffered the loss on the hill in 3.2 innings.
Adelphi completes the New England sweep with a doubleheader at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday at 12 p.m.
