Garden City, N.Y. -
Earlier this evening, the #2 women's lacrosse team took on the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. The Panthers proved to be just too much to handle on both ends of the field as they rang up the visitors for 23 scores while holding rock solid on the defensive side by not allowing a single goal. Coming out on the business end of a 23-0 victory, Adelphi improves to 12-1, 9-1 NE-10 while SCSU drops to 1-14, 0-11 NE-10.

Meg Brown (1G) scored her 27th goal of the season on a Sara Sangiorgio (4G, 1A)  assist just 38 seconds into the first half to get the game rolling. Over the ensuing five minutes, the Panthers turned the ball over five times in unusual fashion. However, Head Coach Rob Grella called a timeout to regroup his team and it resulted in an Erica Devito (4G, 2A) goal just six seconds upon returning from the huddle.

Impressively, the goal was one of seven scored in under three minutes, making it an 8-0 game not even 10 minutes in. Devan Crimi (4G) and Devito were among three Panthers to put in four goals, all of which came in the first half while Sangiorgio, the third four-goal scorer, did most of her damage in the first with three of them coming before the half.

Marissa Mills (2G, 1A) and Danielle Jaycox (2G) also made their contributions in the first 30 minutes while Felicia Mills (1G, 1A) capped a dominating first half with a goal with 11 seconds left to make it a 16-0 affair.

The second half was highlighted by Lauren Janelli (1G), Melyssa Mathewson, Kristie Conrad and Arielle Burke all saw their first goals of the season while Laura Hedges (2A) recorded her first two assists of the 2012 campaign. Jacqueline Williams and Angela Oliveto registered their third assist and goal of the year respectively. In all, 12 different Panthers scored while 16 registerd at least one point.

Jordann Dempsey was the winning cage minder of the night, spending all 60 minutes between the pipes, making two saves and registering the shut out.

For the Owls, Sarah Cebry, Emily Horan, Emily Tooker, Katie Walter accounted for all of the team's five shots while Jessica Shaw and tooker combined for half of their 12 team ground balls.

Adelphi won the statistical battle all around, outshooting their counterparts 32-5, picking up more ground balls, 16 to 12, earning more draw controls, 18 to 5, clearing the ball four more times and had less turnovers, 17 to 21.

The Panthers return to action when they take on the #8 Falcons of Bentley University on Saturday, April 21 at 11am in Waltham, MA.
