Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision to #19 Le Moyne College in a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division contest at William J. Bonomo Field on Saturday. The Panthers could not overcome an early five-run deficit to the nationally ranked Dolphins and fell to 10-9 overall and 1-1 in divisional play, while Le Moyne improves to 19-4-1 and 2-0 in the division.

For Adelphi, Richard Mejia, Justin Farnum and Chad Houghton each knocked a pair of hits. Mejia scored twice and drove in a run, Farnum tripled and Houghton collected two RBI. Jimmy Milani suffered the loss on the mound, allowing three earned runs on five hits in 4.1 innings with six strikeouts. Chris Pabisch continued to provide solid relief by pitching a perfect ninth inning and fanning two batters.

For Le Moyne, Matt Mara led all batters with three hits including a double, and Ryan Mahoney drove in a game-high three runs. Derek Zielinski pitched his way to the win in six innings of work, recording six strikeouts while allowing three runs on six hits. Erik Lambe picked up the three-inning save and chalked up four K's. The Dolphins stole seven bases in the contest and played flawless defense, helping them remain unbeated in NE-10 play.

The Dolphins cracked the scoreboard in the top of the second for a single run, then put up a three-spot in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead and chase Milani from the game. Another run in the top of the sixth opened up the visitors' lead to 5-0, but the Panthers plated three runs of their own in the bottom half to make it 5-3. The Adelphi bullpen held Le Moyne to just one run the rest of the way but the bats could not compile a comeback as the Panthers went scoreless in the final frame.

The two teams take the field again tomorrow for an NE-10 doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
