Garden City, N.Y. –
The #2 women's lacrosse team hosted the #1 Le Moyne Dolphins earlier tonight in a battle of conference and national supremacy. Adelphi fell behind by two late goals right before the half and pulled even in the second, but Le Moyne pushed a three goal lead and managed to hold off a late charge to serve the Panthers their first loss of the season, 11-10. The stickwomen move to 5-1, 2-1 NE-10 while the Dolphins advance to 4-0, 1-0 NE-10.

For Adelphi, Devan Crimi was the high scorer with three goals, two of which came from free position shots while Meg Brown, Marissa Mills and Erica Devito all chipped in with two. Alison Staudt added one to round out the scoring. Goalie Jordann Dempsey made five saves in the loss.

For Le Moyne, Victoria Nies, Kathleet Conese and Brittany Brigandi accounted for six of the team's 11 goals, scoring two each. Catie McKay, Brenna Bauer, Kelly Condon, Anna Daucher and Stephanie Dussing all added a goal each while Sam Yaro collected the only three assists in the game. Goalie Kelly Fucillo made 13 saves to earn her fourth win.

Adelphi got off to a hot start, putting in two goals within the first 2:29 from the sticks of Mills and Brown for the early 2-0 lead. McKay got the Dolphins on the board and then Nies converted on two consecutive free position shots, turning the tables to take a 3-2 lead.

After swapping scores, Staudt's goal at 5:08 evened the playing field at four apiece. However, Condon and Dussing scored within 29 seconds of each other in the final minute to give the top ranked Dolphins a two goal cushion at the half, 6-4.

Crimi made it a one goal game on an unassisted score just 23 seconds in, off the second frame draw. Meg Brown knotted the game at 7-7 at the 27:21 mark and then Brigandi and Mills swapped goals to keep the playing field level. Over the ensuing 18:04, the Syracuse team found the back of the cage four times while Adelphi had just one answer, putting the game nearly out of reach as the scoreboard read 11-8 in favor of the visitors as time wound down.

With under a minute remaining, Adelphi pressed hard and pushed the ball down field as they attempted a furious comeback. Crimi, on her first free position shot, beat Fucillo to make it a two goal affair. Off the draw control, the Panthers gained possession of the ball and headed down into Le Moyne territory. They had two free position shots, and Crimi, again, successfully converted on the second on to pull within one with just 24 seconds remaining.

However, the charge would be halted there as Le Moyne gained possession of the final draw and would go on to snap a 30 game win streak dating back to May of 2010.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, March 24 when they travel to Manchester, NH to take on the Hawks of St. Anselm College in a Northeast-10 contest beginning at 1pm.
