Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory against Franklin Pierce University on Saturday in the team's first Northeast-10 Conference match of the season. The Panthers are now 1-0 in league play, while the Ravens are 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the NE-10.
The dominant match saw the Panthers take three shutout wins, one in doubles play and two in singles action. The No. 3 doubles combo of
Chiwete Njokanma and
Adrish Tewarie took an 8-0 victory over Mikie Connor and Brandon Turmelle, while
Andreas Hammar (No. 1 singles) and
Sander Brenner (No. 6 singles) did not surrender a game in their singles wins.
The Panthers are slated to take the courts again at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday at 12 p.m.
