Manhasset, N.Y. – On Saturday, October 20, the women's lacrosse team volunteered their time to the Girl's Lacrosse Police Athletic League of Nassau County. The free clinic was well received by the girls and the PAL was very grateful for the team spending time with the girls.
The day started with a meet and greet and introduction of the Adelphi players and the women's PAL league. Then, the clinic portion of the day began which included basic instruction of the sport and the fundamentals of lacrosse. Additionally, the Panthers instilled in the 1st-6th graders that while participating in sports is competitive, you also have to enjoy being a part of it.
“Giving back to the lacrosse community and educating the futures stars of women's lacrosse is a great thing not only for the girls, but for myself and our team as well,” stated Grella. “It was a great day all around and I hope we made a positive and lasting impact on the girls.”
The women's lacrosse team finished the 2012 season with a 16-3 overall record and a trip to the NCAA Championship. They will begin the 2013 season with a game against St. Leo on Sunday, February 17.
