Waltham, MA - The women's basktball team suffered their third straight loss on Tuesday night to #6 Bentley by a score of 87-75. Despite four players in double digits, the Panthers could not overcome an 11 point first half deficit as they fell to the top team in the Northeast-10. With the loss, Adelphi drops to 6-10, 4-8 NE-10 while the Falcons advance to 15-2, 11-1 NE-10.
Jessica Kitrys led the squad with 20 points and four blocks while
Kelly Mannix added 17 points to go along with her eight rebounds.
Amanda Campusano chipped in with 12 points while
Sade Jackson had a productive night and just missed out on a triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.
For Bentley, Caleigh Crowell was an unstoppable force, dropping 30 points on 12-17 shooting from the field including going 6-9 from behind the arc. The duo of Lauren Battista and Courtney Finn each posted double-doubles on the evening with Battista tallying 17 points and grabbing 11 boards while Finn scored 14 to go along with her game high 14 rebounds.
In the first half, the Panthers fell behind by nine on three separate occasions, but hung tough to pull within four on a made Campusano free throw, putting the score at 28-34 with 3:36 remaining. An ensuing 10-1 Falcon run set Adelphi back by 13, but a
Jenna Halaby layup with just under a minute left cut the deficit to 11.
The second act proved a more even affair with the Panthers scoring 48 points to the host's 49, but it was too little too late. The hole would grow to as much as 16 points. Adelphi cut the lead to 10 and then scored four unanswered points courtesy of a Jackson jumper and Kitrys layup to pull within six. However, in the remaining 1:52, Bently put a stop to any sort of comeback and put the game away on a 9-3 run.
