Baseball Splits Final Regular Season Doubleheader With Bentley

Game One/Game Two

Waltham, Mass. - The Adelphi University baseball team wrapped up the regular season today with a doubleheader at Bentley University. Adelphi won game one, 2-0, and fell in game two, 2-1, in a non-conference contest. The Panthers finish the regular season in second-place with a 19-6-1 conference record and 31-12-2 overall.

Game One

For the Panthers, senior Richard McCarren went 1-for-4 with an RBI, while classmate T.J. Humrich finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Fellow senior Mike Scudero threw a complete game four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts.

The Panthers broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning when Humrich delivered an RBI single to left field. McCarren would add an insurance run in the top of the ninth when McCarren connected on an RBI single through the right side.

For the Falcons, Sean Keady went 2-for-4, while Kevin Korwek went 1-for-3. John Yohe suffered the tough loss, giving up two earned runs in nine innings.

Game Two

For the Panthers, Humrich went 1-for-2 with an RBI, while junior Jamie Liebowitz finished 1-for-2. Senior Oren Rasowsky suffered the loss in relief, giving up one run (unearned) in 0.2 innings of work.

Adelphi took an early 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning when Humrich came up with an RBI single through the right side.

In the Bentley fourth, Keady evened the score at 1-1 with an RBI single to center. In the bottom of the seventh, Keady would score the game-winning run on a Panther throwing error, giving Bentley the 2-1 victory.

For the Falcons, Keady went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, while while Mark Lane went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Panthers wrap up the regular season in second place and will now await their opponent in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
