Newark, NJ -
Earlier tonight, the men's soccer team took on the Highlanders of the New Jersey Institute of Technology in their final contest of the regular season. Two goals courtesy of juniors Omar Edwards and Issa Tall proved just enough to get by as they held their counterparts scoreless. With the win, the Panthers move to 7-9-1, and an unblemished 4-0 in Atlantic Soccer Conference play while NJIT slips to 4-11-2, 1-3 ASC.

At the 27:05 mark, Brandon Stoneham got the Panthers going as he streaked down the middle of the field and sent a pass to Tall who was racing down the left side. He then redirected his course toward the middle and got a clean shot on target that found the back of the net for the game's first goal.

The first half was all Adelphi as they outshot the host school 8-3, put six shots on goal, had a handful of opportunities, and kept NJIT keeper, Lars Maleen-Johansen busy from the get go as shown by his five saves.

In the 67th minute, an insurance goal was added by Edwards. Senior Mauricio Mora sent a feed to his teammate who had his back to the goal, but all at once, received the pass and turned around to fire the ball from 16 yards out to find the inside left post, furthering the lead, 2-0.

In total, the Panthers outshot NJIT 15-6, had a 4-1 corner opportunity, and ultimately ended the game on the business end of the scoreboard. Keeper Chris Herrera had a relatively quite night making two saves in the win.

Adelphi returns to action on Friday, November 11 at 7pm when they enter into the semifinal round of the ASC Tournament. They will take on the winner of the Thursday game which features a play-in game between #5 NJIT and #4 Howard. Longwood and Houston Baptist will square off on Friday as well at 4pm. The two winners will meet in the Championship game on Sunday, November 13 at noon. You can watch all the games right here on www.aupanthers.tv.
