Men's Soccer Takes Care of Pace, 3-1

Garden City, N.Y. – Head coach Chris Megaloudis and the Adelphi men's soccer team returned home on Tuesday night when they hosted nearby rival Pace for a Northeast 10 matchup.

Series History:

  • Adelphi (4-4-2, 2-2-0 NE10) is now 2-0 against the newly minted Setter program since 2025. The last matchup was a 3-0 Panther victory in the 2025 season finale.

Highlights:

How It Happened:

  • Just like on Saturday at Saint Michael's, it was the Panthers scoring the first goal early.
  • Marcelo Huntley threw the ball in from Pace territory and a bouncing ball found Cesarini Sforza. The senior made a slick move and, with his left foot, left the goalkeeper motionless as he put the ball where it could not be saved for the first goal of the game.
  • Pace was awarded a corner kick in the 17th minute, but Adelphi quickly gained possession and pushed the ball the other way.
  • A misplay by a Pace defender set the ball right to Suterwalla, who split two Setters and beat the keeper for a 2-0 Panther lead.
  • The Panthers continued to push the ball into Pace's half and, in the 42nd minute, struck for their third goal.
  • A cross from Arik Landau allowed Mann to set up Soldo perfectly on the doorstep for the captain's third goal of the season.
  • With a 3-0 lead at halftime, Adelphi was able to call the dogs off a bit and, although they recorded the first shot of the period, they were comfortable playing more defensively.
  • Chances came from both sides in the final minutes, but it was Pace finally getting on the board in the 78th.
  • Adelphi earned their second conference win of the year, 3-1.

Up Next:

  • The Adelphi men's soccer team will be back in action Saturday at 10 a.m. when they host Saint Anselm at Motamed Field.
