Garden City, N.Y. – Head coach Chris Megaloudis and the Adelphi men's soccer team hosted Saint Anselm on Saturday morning for a Northeast 10 contest.

Series History:

• Adelphi (5-4-2, 3-2-0 NE10) is now 12-1 against the Hawks since 2013. The Panthers currently carry an 11-game winning streak, with their last victory being a 1-0 win in Manchester last season.

Highlights:

• Zain Suterwalla scored his team-best fifth goal of the season.
• Stefano Linardos and Enrico Cesarini Sforza both assisted on the goal.
• Andrea Farinella made one save and earned his fourth shutout of the season.
• Adelphi outshot Saint Anselm 13-7.

How It Happened:

• The game got off to a relatively slow start with a handful of shots in the opening 10 minutes, but no high-danger chances.
• Adelphi's backline was strong as the Hawks struggled to get any offense going in the first half.
• Linardos and Cesarini Sforza had chances in the final five minutes, but neither found the back of the net as the game went into the break scoreless.
• In the second half, Adelphi struck quickly.
• After Saint Anselm kicked the ball off, the Panthers gained possession and took it into the Hawks' defensive end. A pass from Cesarini Sforza led to a Linardos shot that banked off a defender and right to the left foot of Suterwalla.
• The junior made the most of the opportunity and put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 Adelphi lead.
• Suterwalla had another chance just minutes later, but it sailed high.
• After some back-and-forth play, Saint Anselm began to control possession.
• The Hawks continued to bring the ball into Adelphi's defensive area, but they could not get a real chance.
• As time wound down, Adelphi's defense stepped up and thwarted any Saint Anselm chance of tying the game.
• The clock hit zero and the Panthers took home a 1-0 victory.

Up Next:

• The Adelphi men's soccer team will be back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they travel up to Southern Connecticut State.
