Men's Soccer Falls in Heartbreaker to Queens

Flushing, N.Y. – Head coach Chris Megaloudis and the Adelphi men's soccer team took the quick trip to local foe Queens College on Wednesday night for a non-conference tilt.

Series History:

  • Adelphi (5-7-2, 3-4-0 NE10) is now 4-1 against Queens since October 2015. The loss snaps a four-game Panther win streak. The last matchup was a 1-0 Adelphi win in Garden City on October 15, 2025.

Highlights:

How It Happened:

  • After a slow start to the match, Agustin Soldo earned the first shot of the night in the 11th minute.
  • The Knights responded with two shots of their own before Murphy had a pair of chances but was stopped by the keeper both times.
  • Queens turned up the offensive pressure in the final minutes of the first half, recording seven shots to Adelphi's zero, but Farinella kept it scoreless heading into the break.
  • Coming out of halftime, Adelphi struck first. In the 47th minute, Suterwalla carried the ball all the way up into the Queens zone before sending it to Escobar. Escobar's pass back was knocked around but ultimately found its original target in Suterwalla, who put the ball in the back of the net to give Adelphi the lead.
  • Escobar and Jack Kenyon tried to double the lead minutes later but could not capitalize.
  • The Knights found their offensive footing again and, after three consecutive shots, found the equalizer in the 63rd minute.
  • In the final 15 minutes, both teams cleared the benches in an effort to spark the offense and gain an advantage.
  • Murphy had another chance, and the Panthers were awarded a late corner kick, but Adelphi was still stuck on one goal.
  • In the final minute, with the game looking to end in a tie, the Queens keeper sent a drop kick three-quarters of the way down the pitch. The ball went off a head and eventually found the foot of Kleverson Bolanos. Bolanos ripped a perfect shot, and with 17 seconds left, Queens took the lead and went on to win 2-1.
