Garden City, N.Y. – The women's soccer team took on the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in a Northeast-10 conference matchup. Adelphi fell behind early and just could not climb back into the game as the Penmen would go on to score four goals while holding the Panthers at one. With the loss, Adelphi slips to 5-5, 4-5 NE-10 while SNHU advances to 6-5-1, 4-4-1 NE-10.
The Penmen wasted no time getting out ahead. Just four ticks after the eight minute mark, Kaleigh Roberge had some breathing room and took advantage of the opening, firing a shot from 20 yards out to hit the top left shelf, giving SNHU the early 1-0 lead.
In the first half, the Panther's offense struggled to get going, managing to get just one shot while SNHU tallied four.
Opening the second half, the Penmen again attacked early on. Just 40 seconds in, Ariel Teixeira broke away from the Panther defense and from eight yards out and sent a shot that caught the left side of the net, beating keeper
Sam Whitney for the second goal of the game, setting Adelphi back, 2-0.

Michelle Hennessy headed in toward the net but was tripped up by a SNHU defender. After regaining control of the ball, she sent a pass to
Amber Ingargiola whose shot was saved, deflected off of the cross bar and then cleared by SNHU to diffuse the threat.
The Panthers found themselves in a deeper hole as the game went on. The Penmen duo of Ashley Jaskula and Kaleigh Roberge scored back to back goals in the 54
th and 56
th minute to extend their lead to four goals.
The Panthers would get on the board in the 71
st minute courtesy of a successful
Donna Liotine penalty kick, who sent the ball right, past a diving Samantha Whittier.
Whitney made one save in the loss while Whittier made five.
The Panthers are back in action on Wednesday, October 12 when they travel to Worcester, Massachusetts for a NE-10 contest against the Greyhounds of Assumption College. First kick is scheduled for 7pm.
