Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team picked up back-to-back wins this weekend by blanking Assumption 9-0 at home on Saturday and edging Le Moyne 5-4 on the road on Sunday. The Panthers improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference competition.

Junior Andreas Hammar led the way against the Greyhounds, taking a 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles and aiding in an 8-1 victory at #1 doubles. 

The Dolphins proved a much more difficult win as Le Moyne jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles play. Alex Morris and Bryan Kallenberg played to an 8-2 win at #2 singles to keep the match within reach, and Hammar, Morris and Adrish Tewarie turned it on for commanding singles wins to propel the Panthers to the finish. Freshman Ryan Villarruel grinded to the toughest win of the weekend, defeating Le Moyne's Ken Schiefer 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-1.

The Panthers return to action next weekend with a home match versus Dowling College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
