Game One|Game Two

The Adelphi University baseball took on Bentley University this afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. After falling in the first game, 6-2, the Panthers bounced back to take game two, 7-3. Adelphi improves to 12-5 and 1-1 in the league, while Bentley now stands at 8-11 and 3-1 in the NE-10.
Game 1
Bentley got out to an early 2-0 after putting up one run in both the first and second inning. James Roche delivered the first run with an RBI single, while Lamarre Rey drove in the second run. The Panthers would even the score at 2-2 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Senior Anthony Anzalone got the Panthers on the board first, driving in classmate Justin Ciamillo with a sacrifice fly. Sophomore T.J. Humrich would then deliver an RBI single to left field, scoring senior Chris Weidlein.
The Falcons would then score four runs in the top of the ninth to secure the victory. The inning was highlighted with a Ross Curley two-run double, scoring Vinnie Eruzione and Lamarre Rey.
For Bentley, Eruzione went 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Curley finished 2-for-5 with two driven in. Dan Murphy went 7.1 innings, surrending seven hits and striking out four for the no decision.
For Adelphi, Weidlein went 2-for-3 with a run scored, Humrich went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Anzalone collected one hit with one driven in. Junior Keith Couch suffered the tough loss, going 8.1 innings, giving up five runs and striking out eight.
Game 2
Adelphi started out the second game with two early runs in the bottom of the first. Both runs came on a two-run home run from Ciamillo. The Panthers would then add one in the fourth and two in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead. Sophomore Luca Romeo drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to center, followed freshman Chris Bozza connecting on an RBI single to right field.
Bentley would then add two runs in the seventh on a Eruzione two-run single to cut the Panthers' lead to 5-3. Adelphi would answer right back with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning. A Weidlein double drove in the first, while Anzalone singled to score the second and final Panther run.
For the Panthers, junior Trevor Thorstensen went 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Weidlein went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Junior Robert Nixon earned the win, throwing seven innings and striking out four. Junior Jonathan Gonzalez struck out out four in two innings, while not giving up a hit.
For the Falcons, Roche went 3-for-4 with a home run, while Sam Koonce finshed 2-for-4. Matt Boudrow took the loss, going six innings and striking out five.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, March 23 when they travel to take on the University of New Haven in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at 3:00 pm.
