Norman, Okla. - Adelphi University men's golf head coach David Mattana was awarded the honor of the 2026 NCAA Division II Golf Pride Grips Region East Region Coach of the Year, announced by the GCAA on Tuesday afternoon.

Mattana is one of eight coaches to be recognized, following the Panthers' No. 1 seed selection in this year's NCAA Division II Tournament.

In his fourth season at the helm for the Cats, Mattana led the team to another incredible season. The program finished fifth overall at the Atlantic/East Super Regional, missing the cut by just three strokes.

During the regular season, Mattana's team racked up five tournament victories, as well as three runner-up finishes, including at the Northeast 10 Championship. His squad featured six All-Conference selections, with four different golfers earning an individual title. Mattana was also recognized as the conference's Coach of the Year.

Since Mattana began his tenure in 2021, he has continued to build success and bring the program to new heights. His teams have now qualified for the NCAA Tournament three years in a row, while also capturing a conference championship during the 2023-24 season.

Mattana and the Panthers will look ahead to the 2026- 202 season, with hopes of bringing the NE10 Championship trophy back to Garden City while working toward another NCAA Tournament appearance.
