Verona, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's golf team opened its 2026-27 campaign with a fifth-place finish at the Red Bandanna Invitational, concluding the three-round event on Monday afternoon.

As a team, the Brown and Gold finished the three-round tournament at 57-over. The Panthers opened with an 18-over performance in round one before shooting 21-over in the second round and closing out the tournament with an 18-over final round. The Cats finished three strokes behind fourth-place - and host - Boston College and five strokes ahead of sixth-place New Haven.

Zeus Sara led the way for Adelphi, finishing tied for 12th individually at seven-over. The sophomore opened the tournament with a two-over (74) round, carding birdies on holes seven and 17. Sara followed with a three-over (75) in round two, which featured four birdies, before closing out the tournament with another two-over (74) in the final round.

Ike Rothman finished tied for 20th at 14-over. After opening with a five-over (77), Rothman shot a six-over (78) in round two before carding his best round of the tournament with a three-over (75), which featured two birdies.

Mitchell Archer's 17-over performance saw him finish tied for 27th. The junior carded back-to-back 78s (+6) to begin the tournament before shaving a stroke off his score (77) in the final round.

Domenick Caponi finished tied for 34th at 19-over. Caponi opened the tournament with a five-over (77) before shooting a six-over (78) in round two and an eight-over (80) in his final round of play.

Noah Grimaldi rounded out the Adelphi lineup, finishing 50th at 33-over. Grimaldi carded rounds of 82 (+10), 83 (+11) and 84 (+12) in his first collegiate appearance.

Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12, when they travel to Eisenhower Red Course in East Meadow, N.Y., for the George Cangero Invitational. The two-day tournament concludes on Sunday, Sept. 13.
