North Attleboro, Mass. – The Adelphi baseball team had a very successful week, going 4-1 with a four-game sweep of Franklin Pierce to move into sole possession of third place in the Northeast 10. One of the main offensive catalysts was Zach DeMilt, who, for the second time in as many weeks, was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week.
DeMilt, who featured at third base and left field, was scorching hot as the Panthers' leadoff hitter. The freshman went 9-for-20 (8-for-15 in the Franklin Pierce series) with seven runs scored, 11 RBI, and his first career home run. In the team's 4-2 game one win on Saturday afternoon, he drove in two key insurance runs that ultimately proved to be the difference in the top of the seventh. DeMilt is now hitting .400 on the season, which puts him in a tie for the third-highest batting average in the conference.
The Adelphi baseball team (15-11, 11-6 NE10) returns to the field on Wednesday afternoon for a single game at Pace. First pitch from Pleasantville is scheduled for 3 p.m.
