Men's Golf Dominates Penman Season Finale, Archer Takes Home Individual Championship

Concord, N.H. - Adelphi University's men's golf team enjoyed a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon at the Penman Season Finale Hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. Adelphi had the top three individual finishers in the tournament, led by Mitchell Archer, who was the Individual champion, leading the way to the teams second straight tournament victory.

As a team the Cats shot an astonishing -28 as a team, beating the second place bentley Falcons by 22 strokes (-6).

Archer finished his tournament at -9, shooting a 68 on day one, and a 67 on day two en route to the individual championship. Archer tore up Beaver Meadow Golf Course, having nine birdies and not one bogey through his 36 holes of golf.

The runner-up, Francis Lanuza, finished just one shot behidn Archer at -8. Lanuza fresh off a second place finish at the FSC Bethpage Black Invitational this past Thursday, shot back-to-back 68's, while tallying 10 birdies over the two-day event.

Right behind Lanuza was fellow Panther Zeus Sara. Sara finished his 36 holes of golf at -5. The freshman recorded eight birdies, shooting a 69 in round one followed by a 70 in round two.

Freshman Ike Rothman finished the tournament at -4, carding a 72 in round one and a 68 in round two. Rothman tied for fourth place with two other golfers while recording 10 birdies.

Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers return to action on Monday, April 27, when they compete in the Charger Challenge, hosted by Dominican University. The two-day tournament will take place at Spook Rock Golf Club in Suffern, N.Y.
