Bethpage, N.Y. – Adelphi University's men's golf team claimed first place at the Farmingdale State College Bethpage Black Invitational on Thursday afternoon. Leading the charge for the Panthers was Francis Lanuza, who finished second individually.

The Panthers shot +20 as a team to pace the five-team field in the one-day tournament. The Cats finished three shots ahead of FSC and seven shots clear of third-place Hamilton College.

Lanuza's runner-up finish came after carding a +1 (72) on the day. The senior had an up-and-down front nine that featured two birdies and four bogeys before cruising through the back nine with eight pars and a birdie on hole 12.

Freshman Ike Rothman tied for fifth place after shooting a +5 (76). Rothman opened his round with two birdies on the front nine and closed with another on hole 18.

Just outside the top 10 (T-11th) was Johnny Solari, who shot a +6 (77) during his 18 holes at Bethpage Black. The senior got off to a strong start, birdieing three of his first four holes while adding another birdie on hole seven during his day.

Mitchell Archer (+8) and Zeus Sara (+9) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers. Archer shot a 79 and tallied four birdies, while Sara carded an 80 en route to a top-25 finish.

Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers return to action on Friday, April 17, when they compete at the Penmen Spring Finale, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. The two-day tournament will take place at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, N.H. - the same course where the Panthers captured both the team and individual titles at the Granite State Opener in the fall.
