Johnstown, Pa. – The Adelphi University men's golf program finished in tenth place at the Sunnehanna Intercollegiate Tournament, held this past Monday and Tuesday at the Sunnehanna Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
Leading the way for the Panthers were Mitchell Archer and Johnny Solari, who tied for 16th place, with a respectable four-over-par for the tournament. Archer opened strong, posting back-to-back even-par 70s in his first two rounds and tallying eight birdies before running into trouble in round three. Solari similarly struggled in his final round, but made a statement in his second round on day one, firing a four-under that included five birdies.
Freshman Zeus Sara and teammate Ike Rothman were the next highest finishers. Sara wrapped up the tournament at nine-over-par, highlighted by an eagle on hole 11 during his second round. Rothman finished at 12-over, collecting six birdies across his three rounds, with his best performance also coming in round two.
Rounding out the lineup was Francis Lanuza, who finished at 15-over-par. Like Sara, he eagled hole 11—doing so in the first round—and added four more birdies over the course of the event.
Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers will return to action on Tuesday, October 8, when they travel to Candia Woods Golf Club in Candia, N.H., to compete in this year's Northeast 10 Conference Championship, which will conclude on Wednesday, October 9.
