Austin, Texas - With three advancing to Academic All-America voting, the Adelphi University softball team has earned five selections to the Division II College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Lily Kenney,
Courtney Murphy,
Brianna Pearson,
Ellen Tarjan, and
Julianna Sanzone were all honored for their performance both on the field and in the classroom. The first three names also advanced to Academic All-America voting, which is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, June 17.
Kenney's selection is the only one that comes from the pitching side, after the sophomore carried a 3.631 cumulative grade-point-average through the season. The Cromwell, Conn. native maintained a 2.42 earned-run-average across 15 starts, earning the win in 13 of them.
Murphy and Pearson round out the offensive selections advancing to the Academic All-America stage, with the pair notching the highest batting averages of qualifying players who played in at least 75% of games. Both of the seniors walked the stage at Adelphi's commencement ceremony last week, as Murphy left Garden City with a 3.891 GPA in Mathematics, and Pearson a 3.736 GPA in Nursing. The two tallied over 21% of the team's hits in 2025.
Tarjan and Sanzone combined for 45 runs batted in throughout the season, accounting for nearly 26.5% of the team's production in that category. Tarjan just completed her junior season with the Panthers, holding a 3.772 in Biology, while Sanzone finished her graduate season with a 3.709 in Nursing.
