5/21/2025 6:52:00 PM

Salem, VA - For the seventeenth time since 2004, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse program will play in an NCAA Division II Semifinal Contest, taking on no. 3 Slippery Rock on Thursday, May 22.

2025 marks the second consecutive appearance for Head Coach Pat McCabe and his squad at the Final Four. Adelphi advanced to the Championship game last year after defeating East Stroudsburg in the national semifinal. The Panthers managed to defeat Pace University in both years in the quarterfinal matchup to advance to the next round.

This year's semifinal field is composed of the last five national champions in Adelphi, 2019; Indianapolis, 2022; and Tampa, 2024.

Adelphi has made it to the finals 11 times, only losing twice (2016 and 2024) and lost in the semifinals on five different occasions. McCabe won his first title with Adelphi in 2015 at the same stadium where this year's Final Four will be played. Since then, he has two additional titles - in 2017 (Bloomsburg, Pa) and 2019 (Allendale, MI).

This years squad boasts three IWLCA All-Americans, led by Adelphi's point leader Ashley Kolomechuk as a First Team honoree. Northeast 10 Defensive Player of the Year Sonny Lionetti was recognized on the second team and Rita Sefransky rounded out the trio with Third Team honors - and the first of her career.

The Panthers are top-10 in points per game (8th) and assists per game (5th) nationally while Tampa holds the fifth best scoring offense and is fourth in scoring margin. Indianapolis is ranked third in clearing percentage across the D2 ranks.
