Women’s Lacrosse Readies for NCAA Quarterfinal Matchup with Pace

5/12/2025 12:32:00 PM

Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi University women's lacrosse programs find themselves in a familiar situation from a year ago, as the Cats prepare for the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship quarterfinal round on Saturday taking on the Pace University Setters.

With the season series tied 1-1, the winner of this game not only wins the series but will punch their ticket to the Final Four in Salem, V.A. Pace won the lone regular season matchup, but Adelphi avenged that loss in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament final to secure the programs eights title.

Heading into this matchup, the Adelphi offense has relied heavily on sophomore standout Ashley Kolomechuk. The Commack, N.Y. native has 13 points over the last three games. Rattling off eight goals and five assists, a draw control and caused turnover to boot. She's closely followed by her junior teammate Alexandra Leggio, who has 12 points over that same span including a five goal outburst against Assumption in the NE10 semifinal round.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior netminder Madison Marchetta has been able to keep opposing offenses off the board with 30 saves over the last three contests including 13 in the teams most recent win against New Haven. Her teammate Danielle Becker has been a defensive pest causing nine turnovers in the same time frame, collecting five ground balls to her name.

After punching their ticket to the Final Four, the winning team will be reseeded with the winners of the other three regions. Opening draw for the Saturday matchup is set for 3 p.m. For ticketing and other game information, please visit aupanthers.com
