Garden City, N.Y. — For the second consecutive season, the Adelphi men's tennis team will be taking home the Northeast-10 regular season title and has received the overall no. 1 seed in the NE10 Championship.
The Cats are looking to repeats as conference champions as they finished the regular season with a 14-5, 9-1 NE10 record. Their only conference blemish came all the way back in October when they were knocked off by Saint Michael's. Adelphi has since bounced back from that, winning seven straight NE10 contests.
The Panther starters have been excellent this season. Led by reigning NE10 player of the year Marko Jovanovic, he finished with a no. 1 singles record of 13-1 and a 2-0 doubles with Spyridon Papageorgiou. The Belgrade, Serbia native is currently on a ten match win streak heading into the playoffs.
Spring newcomers Louca Bertone, Andrea Albiero and Papageorgiou finished with records of 5-2, 4-2 and 6-1 respectively, only dropping one NE10 match between the three of them.
The ITA East Region doubles champion duo of Reece Farrow and Hugo Munoz Reinoso concluded the year with a 9-3 record.
As a team, the Panthers held a 51-19 record in dual match singles matches and a 23-13 doubles record.
The NE10 champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 4 at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
