Orlando, Fla. - In the second tournament played within the Sunshine State this month, the Adelphi University men's golf team took home the victory at the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational earlier this week.
The Brown and Gold prevailed over three other competing schools in Post University (Conn.), Franklin Pierce University, and host Saint Anselm College. Head Coach
David Mattana's squad was the only team to shoot below par, going five-under 571 as a team.
Francis Lanuza also tallied a five-under at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Round 2, improving on his even score from the first round of competition, en route to winning the individual championship. Just behind him was freshman sensation
Mitchell Archer, tying for second at two-under par with a total score of 142.
Johnny Solari also netted a top five finish, shooting an even 72 on the first day of play.
Mason Rivera found himself in the opposite situation, finishing seventh after improving to a one-under 71 in Round 2.
Alec Ramos' one-over par to open up the tournament was good enough to be included in the team score, and he later finished ninth after going four-over on Tuesday.
Kobe Currie rounded out the Panther scorecard competing as an individual, accumulating a six-over 150 across two days' work.
Mattana and Adelphi will be back in action when they return to Long Island for the LIU Tournament, hosted by Long Island University. Action from Brookville Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y. will begin on Monday, April 14 and conclude on Tuesday, April 15.
