North Attleboro, Mass. — The Adelphi women's soccer team is riding high after a big Northeast 10 quarterfinal victory over Southern New Hampshire and on Wednesday afternoon, six Panthers were recognized by the conference for their efforts in the regular season.
Former NE10 players of the year Madison Apicella and Kayleigh Goodrich led the charge for Adelphi as both were named First Team All-Conference. Dylann Trahey earned second team honors, Dalia Morelli was named to the Third Team as well as the Rookie Team and Crystal Knoell took home Rookie Team recognition.
Apicella and Goodrich were electric for the Panther all season long, accounting for 55 combined points.
Goodrich set career highs in goals (11), assists (eight) and points (30). Her 11 goals led the team and is currently good for second in conference while her 30 points led both Adelphi and the NE10. The junior scored a hat trick in a win over Holy Family and had two two-goal games in wins over Southern Connecticut State and Caldwell.
Apicella presently sits with seven goals, 12 assists and 26 points. The senior set career-highs in all three categories and is third in the entire country in assists, sitting just won behind the lead. Apicella scored a sparkling game-winner in the quarterfinal over the weekend, dancing around SNHU defenders for the goal.
Trahey started in all 16 games for the Panthers this season, scoring three goals and tallying five assists. The East Islip native was a key part of Adelphi's midfield, creating chances for her teammates.
DeBlaiso earned the first conference honor of her Adelphi career. The grad student was third on the team with four goals and added three assists on the year. She put up an elite performance in the team's win over Holy Family, potting two goals and tallying two assists.
Morelli had an impressive freshman season helping anchor the Adelphi defensive midfield. The North Bellmore native appeared in 14 games, making 12 starts.
Knoell scored three goals in her first collegiate campaign, adding an important insurance goal in the playoff win on Sunday. She has played in all 16 contests this year, making seven starts. The Sea Cliff native also scored against Caldwell and Franklin Pierce while adding a helper in the win over Southern Connecticut State.
Goodrich, Apicella, Trahey, DeBlaiso, Morelli, Knoell and the rest of the Panthers will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when they travel to No. 1 seed Saint Anselm for the conference semifinal at 1 p.m.
