Apostolopoulos Announces First Schedule for 2025

1/31/2025 12:00:00 PM

Garden City, N.Y. – As the Adelphi University softball team gears up for its 2025 season, first year head coach Katie Apostolopoulos has announced the schedule for her inaugural campaign.

"I'm excited for the season and looking forward to all the contributions from our upperclassmen, as well as the newcomers and our revamped pitching staff," said Coach A.

During the off season, the program graduated six senior starters and lost former head coach Carla Campagna. However, Coach A retains key players such as Courtney Wengryn, Zee Zee Shreter and Jordyn Pasqueralli, as well as adding Division I transfer Julianna Sanzone from Stony Brook.

"We are committed to keeping the traditions of Adelphi Softball but adding a new light to the program," she continued.

Last year, the Panthers finished with a 34-21 record, reaching the finals of the Northeast-10 conference tournament and the NCAA East Region, but ultimately falling short in both.

Apostolopoulos will make her coaching debut on Tuesday, March 4 in the Sunshine State. The first game comes against Florida Southern College starting at 5 p.m.

Over the course of the next week, the team will play Saint Leo (March 5), Rollins College (March 7), University of Tampa (March 8), Florida Tech (March 10) and ultimately ending with a series against Embry-Riddle University on March 11.

Softball returns to Garden City on March 16, with a Sunday afternoon tilt on Janet L. Fickle Field with Mercy University. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

That begins an eight-game homestand for the 'Cats with Queens College (March 18) and Georgian Court University (March 21) both starting at 2 p.m.

NE10 play will get underway to wrap the homestand against Bentley on Saturday, March 22, starting at 12 noon.

On March 25, the Brown and Gold will renew their Long Island rivalry at Molloy University with a 3:30 p.m. start time.

Adelphi will then go on the road to play at Franklin Pierce (March 29) and Saint Michaels (March 30) to close out the month of March.

To open the month of April, the team will host the NCAA East Super Regional matchup of the last three seasons in Wilmington University on April 3, this time in Garden City. First pitch against the Wildcats is scheduled for 2 p.m.

A big conference matchup will commence on Tuesday, April 8, when preseason NE10 champions Pace University will arrive in Garden City. The Settlers received five first place votes in the NE10 Coaches' Poll, and the teams split the two games they played a year ago, shaping up for a heavyweight battle.

The 'Cats will then go on the road for a series of games against Bridgeport (April 10), Bentley (April 12), Assumption (April 13), Caldwell (April 15) and ending at Southern Connecticut (April 17).

To wrap up the regular season, Adelphi will welcome the reigning NE10 champions in Saint Anselm on April 26. Game-time is set for noon.

The NE10 Tournament is set to begin on April 29, with the #1 seed hosting championship weekend from May 1-3. The NCAA Selection Show will take place on May 5, with regionals set to begin on May 8.

All home and conference games will be streamed at NE10 NOW on FloCollege.
