Mansfield, Mass. - A shifty 5-foot-4 guard who made an impactful debut this winter, Adelphi University's
Isabella Asencio was selected to the NE10 All-Rookie Team on Wednesday, as announced by the conference office.
Before being sidelined for the team's final six contests, Asencio averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game, as one of the team's two primary point guards.
In fact, Asencio produced the highest scoring average of any true Adelphi women's basketball freshman since
Calli Balfour in 2013-14.
Asencio led all 'Cats off the bench in her collegiate debut, dropping 16 points in the team's season opener against Caldwell, and proceeded to score in double figures in ten of her 22 outings this year.
By the second half of the year, Asencio was being run out as the team's floor general nightly, starting each of her last 10 games of the season.
Asencio and the Panthers concluded the 2023-24 campaign at 7-22 overall, with a 5-17 mark against NE10 competition. Stay tuned to
