Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Locked In: Men's Hoops Downs NE10 Leader Saint Michael's, 90-75

Garden City, N.Y. - In its penultimate contest of the regular season, the Adelphi University men's basketball program took down the top-team in the conference in Saint Michael's College on Saturday, 90-75.Ā

Despite the loss, the Purple Knights still clinch the top-seed ahead of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament - by way of a Bentley loss - slated to begin Friday, March 1. The Panthers have a chance to lock up the no. 2 seed, with a victory at Assumption on Tuesday.Ā

In a game of scoring runs, it was Adelphi's last stretch of 14 unanswered points starting at 6:46 in the second that all but sealed the deal for the home team. Saint Michael's College tied the game at 62-all with 7:30 left in regulation, but the ensuing four minutes were all Panthers as they jumped out to a double-digit lead to end the game.Ā

Elijah Lewis poured in 29 points with the help of a flawless 15-for-15 performance at the charity stripe to lead all players in the victory. As a team, the Cats shot 45 percent from the floor with 10 three pointers and limited their turnovers to single digits. Saint Mike's had two players come of the bench to contribute to its 33 points as they out-rebounded Adelphi 38-34.

Prior to the contest, the department and program recognized the members of its graduating class - Justin Forest, Conor Regan, Kenyuoe Ondaan, Elijah Perry and Andrew Delaney.

The squad heads to Assumption University for the regular season finale and locks up a top-four spot after today's contest, to earn a first round bye in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference tournament.Ā
