Houston, Texas — Head coach Arthur O'Connor and the Adelphi University bowling team headed down to Texas this past weekend to compete in Sam Houston's TRACK Kat Klash.
One of three Division II teams in the tournament, the Panthers lost their first match narrowly to Southern, 803-798. The 'Cats did not let this affect them as they would go on to take the next match against Prairie View A&M by a score of 853-834. Adelphi would grab its third victory of the tournament when they defeated Texas Southern by one pin, 769-768.
Skye Tadani battled through injury during the weekend and was only able to bowl on day three, but still impressed. She was the anchor bowler in the team's win over Texas Southern and has yet to miss a single pin spare in her last two tournaments, going a perfect 12 for 12.
Carly Wu starred for Adelphi at this tournament, being perfect on single pin spares in baker matches and only missing one in traditional matches. Wu was the team's highest average bowler, knocking down an average of 17.2 pins per frame. She also led the team in overall fill percentage and first ball 9+ percentage.
"I thought this was a great learning experience for the team," O'Connor said. "There were a lot of positives we were able to take from this weekend that we can build on before conference play starts."
The Panthers will return to the lanes on Friday, Nov. 22 when they travel to New Jersey for the Garden State Classic.
