Indianapolis, Ind. - The NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Committee has selected the teams that will compete in the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship, which saw Adelphi University women's lacrosse chosen as the three seed ahead of the tournament.
Earning the No. 1 seeds are: West Chester University (Atlantic region), Pace University (East region), Regis University (Colorado) (Midwest region), and The University of Tampa (South region). The championship provides for a 16-team tournament. The Setters earn the top seed after a nearly perfect conference season, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Pace will be the host site for the East Region, as all three games will be played at Pace Stadium. In the first matchup of the tournament, the Setters will take on the No. 4 seed in the region, the University of New Haven Chargers. The game will take place Friday, May 12 at 11 a.m.
For the Panthers, they will take on familiar foe Le Moyne College, who earned the two-seed despite a narrow 14-13 victory over the Setters in the Northeast-10 Conference final on Sunday. Le Moyne outscored the Cats 17-6 in the semifinal round of the NE10 tournament in Syracuse last week, and were defeated 8-14 during the regular season. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
Winners will advance to the NCAA quarterfinal on Sunday, May 14, also at Pace Stadium. The victors of the four second-round games will advance to the semifinals and finals which will be conducted Friday, May 19, and Sunday, May 21. The championship will be hosted by the University of Indianapolis, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
