White Plains, N.Y. - A pair of NE10 All-Conference selections in 2022-23,
Ty'zhea Hawkins and
Ronnie Silva have wrapped up their collegiate basketball careers as All-Met honorees, it was announced this week.
Not only were they both rewarded for historic seasons on the basketball court, Hawkins and Silva each earned recognition for their work in the classroom with NE10 Academic All-Conference honors.
In her first full healthy season with the 'Cats, Hawkins only pulled off the improbable feat of finishing the 2022-23 campaign as the NE10's leading scorer.
A First Team NE10 All-Conference and All-Met performer, Hawkins eclipsed 1,000 career points and averaged a conference-best 18.7 points per game along the way.
Hawkins, who also obtained D2CCA Second Team All-Region kudos, became the first NE10 scoring champion from Adelphi since
Jessica Kitrys in 2013-14.
Coming off his Met Player of the Year honor a year ago, Silva managed his own career scoring accomplishment.
A once thought to be untouchable record, Silva surpassed
Richard Byrd as Adelphi's all-time leading scorer, tallying a remarkable 2,048 points between 2018-23.
In Met Basketball lore, Silva's storied career ranks him 55th among the all-time 2,000-point scorers in the area. He was named First Team All-Met for his efforts this season.
Just one of three Academic All-Americans in the school's history, Silva is set to receive his master's degree in Sport Management from Adelphi this May.
Hawkins and Silva will officially be celebrated on their All-Met honors at the 90th Annual MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards Dinner next Thursday (Apr. 27) at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown.
