NEW ORLEANS, LA – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), and included an almost clean sweep on the women's side of the East Region as Katherine Marsh, Kyria Moore and Head Coach Katie Rees were all recognized.

Rees, in her 13th year at Adelphi was named East Region Track & Field Coach of the Year, after seeing three different athletes to qualify for the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Championships with top-5 marks: Kyria Moore, who was national leader in the weight throw; Katherine Marsh and Isabel Marsh, who were No. 4 and No. 5 in the 800 meters, respectively. During the regular season, Rees oversaw a strong effort at the Northeast-10 Indoor Championships, where the women's squad finished third with multiple scorers in a plethora of events.

This is the second time in her coaching tenure that she's earned the honor, dating back to 2012, when the Adelphi alum led her women to their first national Championships since 2002 after a second place showing at the East Regionals, finishing behind Stonehill. Additionally, four of her runners took home All-Region honors that season. In her third year leading the team, Rees also lead the Panthers to a runner-up finish at the Northeast-10 Championships.

Moore, who hails from Amityville, New York, finished runner-up in the weight throw at the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Championships with a mark of 20.08m (65-10½). She was the top seed going into the NCAA meet with a PR heave of 20.81m (68-3¼) from the Fastrack Last Chance. After being named a First Team All-American, Moore adds East Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year to her resume.

K. Marsh, who hails from East Meadow, New York, scored 24.5 points at the Northeast-10 Indoor Championships after winning the 800 meters, anchoring a pair of winning relays (DMR and 4×800) and carrying the baton third on the runner-up 4×400. She posted the third-fastest time in the 800 on the NCAA DII Descending Order List during the regular season. She finished the indoor championships in tenth overall in the 800, to earn Second Team All-America honors by the USTFCCCA.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Performances from both the NCAA Championships and the regular season were considered. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
