Indianapolis, Ind. - For the fifteenth time in program history, the Adelphi University softball team will compete in the NCAA Division II Championship tournament, this time as the no. 1 seed in the East Region, the bracket revealed Monday morning.
Sixty-four teams were selected to compete in this year's double elimination tournament, held May 12-14. Adelphi was selected as one of the 16 regional host sites, bringing the tournament back to Garden City for the first time since 2018. Each host site will have four teams competing, and the winners at each site will advance to the super regionals May 19-20. The winners of the super regional will advance to the final site - the Assembly Athletic Complex in Denver, Colo. - to compete for the national title May 26-31.
Adelphi will welcome the East 1 bracket featuring no. 4 Caldwell, no. 5 Saint Anselm and no. 8 Pace. The Panthers have gone a collective 6-1 against the East 1 teams during the regular season, and is set to face Northeast-10 opponent, Pace, who they split with during conference play on Apr. 23.
On the other side of the region, no. 2 Georgian Court will host no. 3 Wilmington, no. 6 Franklin Pierce and no. 7 Bridgeport at the East 2 site.
The Panthers are looking to claim the program's first East Region title since 2016. That year, the Brown and Gold won the regional and super regional, and earned a trip to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship in Denver.
