Celebrating Ten Years in the NE10: Volleyball Sweeps NE10 Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2015

Garden City, N.Y. - The 2019-20 season marked our 10th year in the NE10, and to celebrate that milestone, the Adelphi University Department of Athletics is looking back on some of its most iconic moments and accomplishments with the conference.

Despite capturing an NE10 Championship title the year prior, the Adelphi volleyball team was hungry for more.

And feed its appetite, it did.

In 2015, the Panthers not only tied the school's single-season record for wins with a 27-5 record, but went undefeated in conference play. No other team in the program's history had ever achieved such a feat.

It's amusing that we say that...

Because no other volleyball team at Adelphi had also ever won 22 consecutive matches. After a four-set win over Le Moyne on Sept. 19, it was almost three months before the Panthers lost again.

After cleaning up in the regular season, and firstly, did they clean up...

Megan Manierski was named NE10 Player and Setter of the Year. Sierra Crook earned NE10 Rookie of the Year honors and Danielle MacKnight received the NE10 Coach of the Year nod.

Nearly Adelphi's entire starting lineup landed on the NE10 All-Conference Team. Mandy Stanislovaitis and Shelby Stoner joined Manierski as NE10 All-Conference first-team honorees, while Madison Canestrari and McKenna Clawson were All-Rookie Team selections.

And, the accolades didn't stop at All-Conference either.

The Panthers proceeded to dominate in the NE10 Tournament, where Adelphi lost only two sets in three total matches and attacked at a .300 clip or better in each of the three sets in a 3-0 sweep against New Haven in the championship match.

Manierski and Stoner, the NE10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player, were both selected as AVCA All-America Honorable Mentions. In addition to her NE10 Coach of the Year honor, MacKnight was honored as the AVCA East Region Coach of the Year.
