Ballston Lake, N.Y. - While Cooperstown has announced that the National Baseball Hall of Fame will get no new members in 2021, the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame recently unveiled their 2021 induction class and Adelphi University Head Baseball Coach
Dom Scala will be among those enshrined next November.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021 at the Hilton Hotel in Troy.
The 2021 induction class also includes fellow local baseball greats Bobby Richardson, Cleon Jones, Mookie Wilson and David Cone.
An All-American at St. John's University and a 1978 World Series champion with the New York Yankees, Scala was named head coach at Adelphi in 2004, following a lengthy tenure as a scout and coach in Major League Baseball.
In nearly two decades at the helm of the Adelphi baseball program, Scala has amassed over 400 victories and possesses a .567 career winning percentage. He has also led the Panthers to three conference championships and countless postseason berths, while almost two dozen former student-athletes of his have gone on to play professionally.
"Words cannot express how excited and humbled I am to be selected for such a prestigious honor. It's the culmination of a long career in which my passion and love for the game has been recognized," Scala said. "I thank all the players, coaches and mentors that have been part of my continued journey."
Scala then concluded: "I enjoy giving back what I have learned through the years. I get a thrill when kids I teach do well on and off the field. I want them to love the game so they can teach the next generation."
