Garden City, N.Y. - On Wednesday, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association honored Adelphi University's Leonie Edringer and Missy Traversi as its Division II Women's Basketball Co-Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Edringer and Traversi both join a short list of former Panthers to earn the distinguished awards. Gianna Smith was the last Adelphi recipient of the All-Met Player of the Year honor in 2007, while Heather Jacobs last took home Coach of the Year recognition in 2015.

Edringer left her mark as a senior, averaging a career-best 15.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, to go along with a league-leading 69 blocks. Her 12 double-doubles were the second-most of any player in the East Region.

Edringer also scored 20 or more points in eight different contests this season -- highlighted by a 31-point effort at Bentley on Feb. 1 -- and led all players in the NE10's Southwest Division in every rebounding category.

Edringer's outstanding efforts have resulted in her being named to the NE10 All-Conference, D2CCA All-Region and ECAC All-Star First Team, in addition to garnering WBCA All-America Honorable Mention praise.

Edringer was joined by Katie Murphy on the All-Met First Team. The Adelphi floor general, Murphy ran the point to the tune of a team- and conference-leading 197 assists, which were the third-most in Division II.

Murphy, who was named to the ECAC All-Star First Team and NE10 All-Conference Second Team, averaged 12.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and twice finished just shy of a triple-double in the regular season.

Traversi earns Coach of the Year accolades for the first time in her Adelphi tenure, after guiding the Brown and Gold to one of their most historic seasons in the program's history.

The Panthers opened the year on a 16-game winning streak, en route to finishing with a 27-3 record and securing the NE10 Southwest Division regular-season title. Additionally, Traversi's squad clinched the No. 1 seed in the NCAA East Region Tournament and climbed as high as No. 8 in the WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll.
