Sinking Spring, Pa. - The three-day Griffin Baker Classic came to its conclusion for the No. 20 Adelphi University women's bowling team over the weekend in Sinking Spring.

Upon capturing a Baker title on the tournament's opening day, the Panthers resumed bowling Saturday with another five-match Baker tournament, in which the team went 3-2 for a fifth-place finish. Adelphi averaged a 182.4 in the five games and eclipsed a 900 series in its three victories.

Then, on Sunday, the Brown and Gold concluded its visit to Berks Lanes with a best-of-7 Baker tournament. After losing its opening tilt to Chestnut Hill, Adelphi handled Howard in five games, before a re-match with the Griffins saw the Panthers come back from a 2-0 deficit to win its final match of the weekend in seven games.

For the weekend, Adelphi finished with a spectacular record of 10-3. Since returning from the holiday break, the Panthers are 28-8, translating to a .778 winning percentage.

"This is the part of the season where we look to start gaining momentum heading into the ECC Championships," said Head Coach Dennis Kearney. "These girls are starting to fire on all cylinders. No matter who is in the lineup, they rise to the occasion and get the wins. They are relentless and it's something special to watch as their coach."

Freshman bowler Hannah Manetta was selected to the All-Tournament team. She led Adelphi with a 201.5 average, in addition to posting an 87.5 fill percentage, a 51.9 Baker doubles strikes percentage and a 96.4 single-pin spare conversion rate.

Megan Wehmeier accounted for the team's best fill percentage (90.4 percent), spare conversion rate (83.8 percent), makeable spare percentage (90.5 percent) and single-pin spare conversion rate (97.4 percent) for the weekend.

Skylar McGarrity averaged a team-high 8.96 pins on her first ball and tied Wehmeier for the most single-pin spares made (37), while Olivia Lopera converted 89.1 percent of her makeable spares and 92.9 percent of her single-pin spare attempts.

Head Coacnh Dennis Kearney and the Panthers will return to action in two weeks (Feb. 22-23) at the Molloy Invitational at Farmingdale Lanes in Farmingdale, N.Y.
