After running 20 miles last Monday morning, former Adelphi University field hockey star made a special trip to the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis, Ind. to meet someone close to Challenged Athletes Foundation.
Landis Sims, a Southern Indiana baseball and basketball player, is a CAF athlete who has received $7500 in grant dollars, and met up with Cuevas at the NCAA on Monday afternoon.
"It means a lot because it's gonna give more chances to other kids like me to be better at their sports," Landis said. "It's pretty great she's doing this."
Cuevas has surpassed the midway point in both miles run and funds raised, but still has just under a month left to go. She started in Santa Monica, California on April 1 and will finish in Montauk, New York. It's taking her three months, through 12 states. When it is over she will have trekked 3,137 miles.
"I just really wanna get the word out because I feel like not enough people know about CAF and what they do," Cuevas said.
