Garden City, N.Y. -
Rebecca Fakas will lead the Adelphi University men's and women's tennis programs for the remainder of the semester, announced by director of athletics
Danny McCabe on Monday.
The athletic department recently accepted the resignation of head coach Joanna Haich, who resigned her position to pursue other opportunities outside of collegiate tennis.
Haich led both programs as head coach beginning in the 2016-17 season, after spending the previous spring season as an interim head coach, and the prior fall season as an assistant coach.
Fakas, who was an assistant coach in the fall following a four-year career as an Adelphi student-athlete, will lead the men's program through their primary playing season this spring, as well as the women's team in its secondary competition season.
A search for both programs' next head coach will be undertaken at the end of the semester.
