Milford, Conn. - On Saturday, the Adelphi University bowling team looked to defend its title at the Sacred Heart University Bowl for a Cure at AMF Bowlero Lanes in Milford.
The Panthers finished fourth in the field with a 2-3 record and a 167.0 average. One of those wins was a 904-883 victory over tournament champion Molloy College.
Hannah Manetta, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, paved the way for Adelphi in the team format with a 187.0 average. That included a season-high score of 205 against Molloy.
Manetta also led the Panthers in singles play, advancing to the final. She eclipsed the 200-point mark in her first three matches, en route to reaching the championship match. Her first two wins came by a combined total of nine pins -- the latter of which was a 216-214 triumph against teammate

Wehmeier opened up singles competition as the No. 11 seed and knocked off sixth-seeded Natalya Porcello of Bloomfield College, 179-160.
Amber Torvund, the No. 10 seed, won her first singles tilt against Long Island University's Rhianna Smith, 159-146.
Adelphi is back in action next weekend (Oct. 25-27), when it bowls at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Caldwell University at Rockaway Lanes in Rockaway, N.J.
